Electric Vehicle ChargeON Program

The Province of Ontario released the EV ChargeON Program, providing funding for the installation of public EV chargers to support communities outside large cities. Run by the Ministry of Transportation, the program is available to the applicable participants.

  • The program will fund up to 75% of your project costs to a maximum of $1M per project; each site is considered one project.
  • Projects can stack available programs for maximum funding.
  • Projects must fall within the eligible geographical areas (green areas).
  • The program is open until January 31, 2024.

APPLICABLE PARTICIPANTS

  • Businesses
  • Not-for-profit corporations
  • Municipal governments
  • Indigenous communities
  • Broader public sector organizations
  • Must be the current Ontario property owner
  • Property must be located in a community of 170,000 or less or any Indigenous community in Ontario.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:

  • Chargers must be publicly accessible 24/7
  • Include SAE J1772 or CCS connections
  • Include at least one of:
    • Four Level 2 ports
    • One Level 3 port and one Level 2 port
    • Two Level 3 ports
  • Not Eligible: Individuals, Federal, provincial or territorial governments and their respective ministries etc.
